Hello World! My name is Jasmine Keyes and I picked up my first pencil at 2 years old and have been attached to them since. Not only do I have enormous, animated eyes and crazy expressions, but I also have a diverse skill set to create characters and illustrations that reflect my silly smile on my audiences faces. I just recently graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) and obtained my BFA of Fine Arts with a concentration in Illustration and a minor in Photography and Art History.
I have been influenced greatly by the colorful works of Brian Froud and the illustration greats, such as, Norman Rockwell, Maurice Sendak, David Mack, Tony DiTerlizzi, and Dr. Seus. I also enjoy learning from other cultural artistic expression. I spent summer 2008 studying in Xi'an, China, trying to imitate their keen eye to express the essences of Chinese ink painting at Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts (XAFA).
My preference of mediums are watercolor, mix media (usually watercolor, color pencils, & acrylic), 3-D sculpting, digital painting, and traditional photography. I am not limited to these mediums, but I am also well versed in oils, acrylic, gouache, and etc. Now that I've obtained my degree, I am focusing on fiction & children illustration, digital illustration, 3-D toy concepting, and freelance photography.
I am based out of Columbus, Ohio, where I spent my spare time with my husband and delightful two dogs, Yukari (shih tzu) and Samson (sheppard mix)
In January 2010 look for my sister company JADE INK, LLC!
